Welcome to GreenAroundYou!
GreenAroundYou is a nonprofit organization for those who want to help themselves and others live in a sustainable manner as efficiently as possible. There are three key elements:
(1) Live sustainably where possible. To help with living green, we have a collection of Green Tips. We realize you likely practice all these that you can — but you can help spread the word.
(2) "Green around you" to cover those aspects of your life and others around you that you can't change.
This our first major focus as a non-profit:
Directing your contributions toward green organizations and research where they can do the most good.
We take your contributions and
distribute them in the most efficient manner:
for example, buying the most carbon offsets for your dollar from the many sellers — we do the work to find the best transaction so you don't have to.
Read more about where your money goes.
(3) "Green around you" to educate others. This is our second major focus: As a contributor you're entitled to display our Green Tip Bar and "I Did" logo on your web site — and we hope you do, because this really helps us grow and thereby improves the health of our one and (so far) only planet.
Please contribute today and spread the word.
Living a planet-healthy lifestyle is hard, and, frankly, for most people it isn't completely possible. On top of that, you can't control how others behave, yet their behavior impacts you and everyone else. The average American contributes 20 tons of CO2 per year, requiring an offset by approximately 20 Green Credits.
What you can do is treat "green" not just as an adjective describing how you live, but as a verb: To "green" around you, by helping educate others (easily done by displaying our logo and tips) and by purchasing Green Credits. Green Credits offset the behaviors you have no control over. They are distributed to organizations who use those funds for specific activities: to plant trees (carbon sequestration, erosion prevention, heat island reduction, habitat preservation, etc.); make power plants pollute less; increase efficiency of factories; purchase polluting cars off the road; carry out sustainability education (what really works? what are myths?); conduct research into cleaner energy, optimizing traffic flow, energy efficiency; and so on — projects you can't do alone that require money, and your help. We find the ones who do the best job for your dollars.
You can also make your contribution as a gift, and present the recipient with a certificate documenting how they've helped the world.
We simply ask that you help in some way, however much you can.
For smaller spaces, you can use a smaller "I Did" logo, such as:
